Light Practice for Dark Days

Have you noticed those holiday lights coming on earlier and earlier each year? There was a piece on my local news channel 12 about the Ridge Hill Shopping Center in Yonkers, where I teach on Mondays, displaying holiday lights BEFORE HALLOWEEN – seems like there oughta be a law about that! But aside from the dubious (to me, at least) marketing enticement of holiday lights getting people in the mood to shop, I can understand the urge to light up November and December, especially now that daylight savings time is over and we’ll all be coming home from work in the dark.

I like to think of yoga as lighting us up from within – cultivating our inner glow (it’s there, I promise you!). With a little creative imagery, I invite you to feel self-illuminating light in this practice:
