During the winter months, even a winter that has been as mild as this past one, we tend to contract inward against the dark and the cold. I’ve spent many evenings over the past few months sitting in front of the fireplace, reading and listening to music – a lovely way to spend time, certainly, but now that the days are longer, the air is warmer, birds are singing, and there’s a faint green glow over the grass and trees, it seems time to shed my cocoon. I feel a need for some metaphorical yawns and stretches. Do you feel that way, too?
I’d like to offer a practice that you can try to start waking your body and mind to the warmth and light of spring.
